MONTH OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

FIFTEENTH DAY

On the wound of the Sacred Heart. All the wounds of our Lord are so many gates of salvation open to the whole world, but that of his heart is the largest. All his wounds are fountains of grace, but that of his heart is the clearest and most delicious. All his wounds are so many purple streams, in which we can plunge all the powers of our soul, to enhance the price of our thoughts, words, and actions; but the wound of the heart gives them a higher colour, a more lively tinge, a more precious lustre. All his wounds are so many characters of the book of life, which contains the science of the saints  but that of the heart renders as more learned. All his wounds are so many places of refuge, where the most criminal find shelter; but that of the heart is the most secure. The wound of the heart is an eloquent tongue, which speaks in the secret of hearts, to remind us of the love Jesus has borne to us, and to demand ours in return. Let us cast ourselves into it, and take the resolution of never leaving it. St Gertrude being one day with her community before the holy sacrament, saw that each person received grace. Some seemed to derive it from the hands of Jesus, some from the heart, and these latter were by far the best off, for they received with plenitude what they desired. Say thrice: Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Immaculate Heart of Mary! pray for us.

Nine Elevations of the Soul to the       Sacred Heart of Jesus

Heart of Jesus, perfect adorer of God, teach me to adore thy heavenly Father with thee and by thee.
Heart of Jesus, inflamed with love for me, inflame me with thy divine love.
Heart of Jesus, victim alone worthy of God, unite me to thy divine sacrifice.
Heart of Jesus, overwhelmed with bitter ness for the sins of men, break my heart with sorrow for my sins.
Heart of Jesus, infinitely humble, annihilate my pride.
Heart of Jesus, perfect model of meekness, inspire me with that salutary virtue.
Heart of Jesus, infinitely pure and spot less, give me an inviolable purity of body, mind, and heart.
Heart of Jesus, full of zeal for the glory of thy heavenly Father, animate my heart with an ardent zeal for thy glory and my own sanctification.
Heart of Jesus, reign for ever in my heart, and grant me grace to reign one day with thee in heaven.

          Rosary in honor of the
      Sacred Heart of Jesus

This rosary is in honor of the thirty-three years of our Lord, and is composed of thirty-three beads, which, divided into five parts, represent the five wounds of our Lord.

On the cross Pray One Pater Noster, and Credo.

Dominica Oratio – (Pater Noster)
Pater noster, qui es in caelis, sanctificetur nomen tuum. Adveniat regnum tuum. Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie, et dimitte nobis debita nostra sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris. Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer - (Our Father)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Symbolum Apostolicum
Descendit ad inferos, tertia die resurrexit a mortuis. Ascendit ad caelos, sedet ad dextram Dei Patris omnipotentis. Inde venturus est iudicare vivos et mortuos. Credo in Spiritum Sanctum, sanctam Ecclesiam catholicam, sanctorum communionem, remissionem peccatorum, carnis resurrectionem, vitam aeternam. Amen.

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

On the small beads O Jesus, meek and humble of heart, render my heart like unto thine.

On the large beads I adore and love thee, O divine heart of Jesus. Enkindle in my heart the divine fire with which thou thyself art inflamed.

Let us pray

0 good and loving Jesus, who art the consolation, the strength, and hope of those who invoke thy holy name, and who seek a refuge in thy saving wounds, be to me  Jesus in life, and at the hour of my death.
